Pickleball in Lima, Ohio

Lima has dependable indoor pickleball at the Lima Family YMCA and outdoor play at the Collett Street Recreation Area. The YMCA schedules pickleball every weekday morning and has four indoor courts, making it the most consistent local option. Outdoors, Collett Street has a large lighted tennis complex that is also used for pickleball. The Great American Pickleball Club connects local players and is especially useful for anyone trying to find games rather than simply find an empty court.

Indoor and Outdoor Pickleball

  • Lima Family YMCA
    345 S. Elizabeth Street, Lima, OH 45801
The YMCA has four indoor pickleball courts in its North and South gyms. Scheduled pickleball time runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to noon, with additional afternoon and evening availability on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday when the gym schedule allows. Pickleball is included with Lima YMCA membership, and some paddles are available. See Lima YMCA pickleball information and the current gym schedule.
  • Collett Street Recreation Area
    800 S. Collett Street, Lima, OH 45805
This city recreation complex has eight lighted tennis courts and is an established outdoor location for Lima pickleball players. Pickleball shares the tennis complex rather than using a separate city-listed dedicated pickleball facility. The park also has restrooms, parking, walking trails, ballfields, and access to the Ottawa River Bikeway. See Collett Street Recreation Area information.

Getting Started in Lima

A recurring beginner-only clinic is not currently published in Lima. New players should start with the weekday pickleball program at the Lima Family YMCA. The regular Monday through Friday morning court time provides a more practical introduction than trying to learn during an unscheduled park visit, and some paddles are available at the YMCA.

The Great American Pickleball Club is another useful connection for newer players looking to meet the local playing community. Visit the Great American Pickleball Club. Players who want individual instruction can also use the Coaches section.

Regular Play and Local Games

The Lima Family YMCA provides the most consistent published pickleball schedule in the city. Courts are available for pickleball Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to noon, with additional Thursday, Friday, and Saturday periods appearing on the gym schedule. See the current YMCA gym schedule.

Outdoor games are also organized through Lima's local pickleball community, including the Great American Pickleball Club. Collett Street Recreation Area is an established outdoor playing location, though the city does not publish a fixed weekly open-play timetable for the courts. Connect with the Great American Pickleball Club for player-organized games and local activity.

Finding a Game in Lima

If you are visiting alone, the most useful first step is the Great American Pickleball Club. Use the local club to connect with players and coordinate a game at Collett Street or another active local location instead of arriving at an outdoor court without knowing whether anyone will be there.

If you already belong to the Lima Family YMCA, weekday morning pickleball from 9:00 AM to noon provides a dependable indoor option. Regular guest passes require a Lima YMCA member to accompany the guest, so the YMCA should not be treated as unrestricted public drop-in access for every visitor.

If you already have partners, Collett Street Recreation Area is the straightforward public outdoor choice. Its large tennis complex is used for pickleball and gives groups more flexibility than relying on an indoor membership facility.
